Cause Of Ileostomy

What are the reasons for ileostomy ?

        The ileostomy is done when a disease or injury has rendered the large intestine incapable of fulfilling its role on matters it transports. The ileostomy was performed because the surgeons want to retain the continuity of the two segments cut but can not do so in the immediate or in the case of too much of the colon: in this case, the conservation of it is impossible.

        A Ileostoma is created when the operative removal of a large portion or the entire colon, including the sphincter is required. The reasons lie primarily in chronic inflammatory diseases of the colon such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. In these diseases there is a high incidence of diarrhea (up to 30-times a day), which a medication often can not stop. The physical and emotional burden of those affected and when the many complications arise the facility of a Ileostomas becomes then inevitable. Another reason is the rare familial polyposis: This disease occurs in the colon . They often take the cancer out ,and the infected parts of intestine are removed.

List of reasons of an ileostomy necessity :

* Crohn's disease (chronic inflammatory disorder of entire gastrointestinal tract)
* Ulcerative colitis (chronic inflammatory disease of the Colon mucosa)
* Perforated diverticulitis (inflamed Intestinal wall, in the abdomen )
* Familial polyposis (numerous occurring, benign stalked Tumors)
* Cancer
* Injuries
* Malformations in infants and children
