Changing The Ileostomy Pouching System
|

|
Using the pouching system... follow these steps:
...but before that note that Changing The Ileostomy Pouching System is not that of a complicated task and you should just read the following in a relaxed manner and do not stress yourself about the process of Changing The Ileostomy Pouch.
1. Make sure to have all your equipment close at hand before removing your pocket.
2. Wash up your hands.
3. Stand or sit in front of a mirror. Use the position that best fits you. Do remember that the skin around the stoma must be kept clean when the wrinkle is loose.
4. Take the used soft bag (one-piece system) out. Empty the bag into the toilet. Apart from the closure clamp, it can be re-used.
5. Wash the stoma itself and the skin around the stoma. Your stoma may bleed a little time. Just be sure to wash it. This is normal. You can use a soft paper towel, mild soap (like Dial, safety measure, or ivory), and water. Avoid soaps or perfumes that contain skin lotions.
6. For a new bag (piece) or a new wafer (two-piece system), measure your stoma, and have all accessories close at hand.
7. Optional: Use a skin barrier powder to prevent irritable skin, and dust it abundantly.
8. Optional: You can wipe the skin around the stoma, and let it dry. Use this solution when the skin is shaved and gets irritated (red irritated).
9. Optional: Use a skin barrier paste around the opening cut in the back of the bag or the wafer. Allow 30 to 60 seconds to dry out.
10. Hold the bag (piece) or oblate (two-piece system) with the sticky side facing your body. Make sure the skin around the stoma is wrinkle-free. Center the opening on the stoma, then press strictly to your abdomen. Look in the mirror to check if you have the bag, or wafer, in the correct position. Make sure it is firmly in place.
11. Put your hand over the stoma and the pouch or wafer for about 30 seconds. The heat of your hand will help the bag or the wafer to stick better.
12. Add your bag deodorant. Other dining options include extracts such as vanilla extract and peppermint oil interlinked. Add about 10 drops of deodorant to a bag. Use locking clip.
Note: do not use at this moment toxic chemicals or cleaning agents that are advertised. These substances can harm the stoma.
13. Optional: For additional sealing use tape on all four sides around the pouch or wafer. You can use any medical adhesive tape brand .
14. Change your bag every five to seven days. Change it immediately if leakage occurs.
15. Wash your hands.
If you use a two-system, you can use two new cases per week and can use them alternately. Rinse the bag with mild soap and warm water and hang it for the next day to dry. Use the fresh bag. Replace the two bags like this for a week. Change after a week of the wafer and start with two new bags. Put the old bags into a plastic bag andthrow it away in a trash.
Empty your pocket, if it is full one third (from urine, stool, or gas). If you wait until your pocket is more than this, it becomes difficult to empty it.
If you empty your pockets, either provide toilet paper in the toilet bowl first, or flush the toilet while you empty the bag. You can fit the bag between your legs to empty it.
If you wish to flush your pocket after you empty it, please make it compact. When using a Baster, squirt water into the bag through the opening on the ground. With a dual system, you can grab from the bag to give it a rinse. After rinsing your bag, empty it into the toilet.
When rinsing your bag at home, put a few grains of Dreft soap in the rinse water. This oil helps to refresh.
